Making your own graffiti stickers is easy and saves money when compared to buying stickers or ordering them from a professional printer. We once ordered stickers from a printer and it was $80.00 for 500 small stickers - way too expensive for our limited budget. There are many different ways that you can make your own homemade stickers that are much cheaper. Sticker paper made especially for a printer is one way, but it can also be pricey and there is a lot of waste. A less expensive option is to make your stickers with double-stick tape and contact paper or a roll of clear packing tape. Although a roll of double-stick tape is a bit expensive, you can get many hundreds of small stickers from one roll, so it is economical.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • your sticker design printed out on paper (either ink jet or laser printing will work
    fine)
  • a two inch roll of double stick tape - sometimes called film tape  - you can buy it
at an art supply store or order it from Amazon.com
  • clear contact paper, or clear packing tape or scotch tape
  • scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP  1.  Minimize your sticker design
and try to fit as many copies as you can
on one sheet of printer paper. Heavier
printer paper works best. Make sure to
leave a lot of extra room between each
design so you have space to cut each
one out.

STEP  2. Cut out one copy with as much
extra room around the edge as possible.

An alternative is to draw the small sticker
designs yourself using a black magic
marker.

STEP  3. Here is how your finished
cut-out should look. At this stage you
can color your drawing with magic
markers or colored pencils. We are
leaving ours black and white for this
example.

STEP  4. Cut or tear off a long strip of
double-stick tape about the same length
as the sticker drawing.

STEP  5. Place strips of double stick
tape along the back of the design.
Cover the whole back of the paper. Do
not remove the double-stick tape
backing paper yet.

STEP  6. Turn your design over and put
strips of clear packing tape or scotch
tape along the front of the design to
make your sticker waterproof and
durable. You can also use clear contact
paper. Cover the whole front of the
design.

STEP  7. Carefully rub back and forth
over the front and back with a soft,
clean cloth to fuse the three layers
tightly together.

Then cut out the design leaving at least
1/8" margin all around the edge.

STEP  8. Peel off the strips of
double-stick tape backing paper.

STEP  9. Then stick your stickers
wherever you want that you have
permission. Stickers can go on
everything; notebooks, gift packages,
etc....

Making homemade graffiti stickers is easy, inexpensive and fun! You can make your stickers any size or shape that you
want using either your computer printer or drawing copies of them yourself.
