DATE: 29/08/2013 - 01/09/2013.
LOCATION: Multiple venues around Portobello Road, West London.
Since its launch in 2002 the Portobello Film Festival has presented a successful annual urban art strand showcasing pioneering artists such as Blek Le Rat, Jamie Hewlett and Eine throughout West London.
This year the strand will be taken from a fringe event and launched as a stand-alone festival through a spectacular weekend exhibition at the prestigious Louise Blouin Foundation, together launching the film festival into action.
The exhibition, supported by Arts Council England, includes artwork and installation from 13 contemporary artists including Joe Rush, Alex Wreckage and the Mutoid Waste Company, as seen in the London 2012 Paralympic Closing Ceremony and the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2013.
Also on the bill is a diverse range of exciting artists spanning street art, kinetic sculpture and more alongside a programme of film screenings, music, workshops and special events.
The current list of confirmed artists includes:
Joe Rush, Teddy Baden, Inkie, Giles Walker, Alex Wreckage, Lucy Sparrow, Solo One, Cosmo Sarson, Zeus, Sickboy, Dotmaster, #CodeFC.
Opening night (28th August) will see the world premiere of ‘Anarchist: The Malcolm McClaren Generation’ as well as screenings of ‘The K Foundation’ and ‘The History of Frestonia’ alongside a special VJ set from Red Dog. The exhibition will then be open to public from 29th August to 1st September.
