Paul Cavalieri from New York used go under the alias Cavs as a young graffiti writer in his active days. In those days he had the brilliant idea to take pictures of all the pieces he saw rolling in traffic instead of limiting himself to only taking pictures of his own.

The actions which was taken by the MTA in 1989 to bring down the uncontrolled graffiti situation in the metro erased a huge amount of graffiti history from the panels of their trains. Still, what they didn’t manage to erase was the 325 images which he brings to light in his book of almost 180 pages.

“From The Platform” consists of a collection of images taken between 1983 and 1989 and present all from bombed interiors of New York Metros to masterpieces by the big names form the golden age (DondiSeen,DeroReas…) well accompanied with commentaries by some of the protagonists in the book. The publication offers a historical document of great value which brings us back with nostalgia to the 80′s and a time we will never see again.

As always, you can get your copy of this book at Montana Shop Barcelona.
