Today, we have a lucky chance to interview a multi talented graffiti artist from Australia, IDARE.

GS: What is your tag name and why did you choose it?

IDARE: HELLO my name is IDARE ;)

Hmm, why? I was fighting depression when I chose it, it was a word that symbolized my mentality at the time. I dare to fight.
I was tagging random words in my sketchpad one day, a few years ago. I wrote the word 'DAZE' and it looked alot like my handstyle does now. I had to tweak DAZE over and over again to get a better shape, so i changed the R to an E and added the I in front.
I had my shape, i had my word, and my word had meaning to me :)

GS: How and why did you get into street art(graffiti)?

IDARE:  I had too many pages in my schoolbooks, and schoolwork didn't look quite as good in them as pieces did. Then came fatcaps and a wake of destruction and i was addicted. All my friends stopped it eventually. I never could :)

GS: How would you describe your style?

IDARE: Versatile. Evergrowing. I like to balance 2D and 3D styles, I get sick of always doing one or the other so i change it up. Always hungry to learn new shit.

GS: Where did you begin making art in the streets and how old were you?

IDARE: 'Art' haha.. I guess, I didn't start painting pieces till about 2005, when i was 23. By 2011, i'd only painted maybe 3 or 4 pieces. But in 2012 i discovered my city (Adelaide, South Australia) had a 'legal wall', and i set about on my path in mastery of painting. In a few short months i developed almost flawless can control, and started painting illusionary anamorphic graffiti on the floor and legal wall.

GS: What crew(s) are you in?

IDARE: Destroyers Crew ADL.

GS: How did you develop such good technical painting and drawing skills?

IDARE: By 'biting' (analyzing and re-creating) what i seen, and putting my own twist on it, and integrating it into whatever style i already had. I dont give a fuck, i'll be honest. We're all biters in one way or another.
"Oh you do keylines? You must be biting that dude who done the first keyline."
"Oh dont tell me you distort letterform too? I know the guy that distorted letterform first."
"Ohh.. I noticed you've done a woodgrain effect as your fill. You know you're biting trees right?"

GS: what the most difficult thing in graffiti do you think?

IDARE: Dealing with people who regurgitate words like 'biter' without thinking about what they're saying. That, and writers block. Fuck writers block!

GS: What are some of the writers who have inspired you?

IDARE: Truly humble artists. Djalouz 2AC from France. Atome TFP from Australia. Efas and Neck from CNSkills in Germany. Odeith from Portugal. Dave Bonzai, MadC, so many more.

GS: How do you pick your locations ?

IDARE: I go where the cops dont. Spots i can chill out at for 8 hours and bring my bong to ;)

GS: What tools do you use ? Only spray paint?

IDARE: Frag grenades, thermal satellite imaging, night vision goggles, bungee cords, a lockpick, a toothpick, swiss navy knife and the worlds smallest violin. and Poscas.

GS: Do you pre plan your murals, or make it up as you go along?

IDARE: Mostly i prefer to freestyle. The wall has a different vibe to the sketch an i find it easier to adapt to the differences without having a previous sketch drawn.

GS: Would you like to share some tips and tricks?

IDARE: Practice. And do what YOU want to do :)

GS: Any unforgettable story that you would like to share with us?

IDARE: It's not graffiti related. But once, my younger cousin sneezed and farted at the same time. He folded in half instantly holding his stomach, a look of fear in his eyes as he cried "I think i twisted my intestines!" Hahahaha.

GS: Have you collaborated with any artists recently? Who and what work has come out of it?

IDARE: Yeah, my fellow Destroyers Clan brother OGS1. We done a job on the busiest nightlife street in my town and got paid with unlimited free food, alcohol and paint for 4 days in a row, plus some cash in the pocket too.

GS: Any message to other artists?

IDARE: Just a quote :)

The meaning of life is to find your gift,
The purpose of life is to give it away.
